Сообщение MONTREAL (AP) — Jonathan Drouin picked
the perfect time to break out of his lengthy scoring slump.Drouin had a goal and an assist and Carey Price made 28 saves as the Montreal Canadiens beat the New York Islanders 4-0 Thursday night to remain in the hunt for an Eastern Conference playoff spot.Drouin had not scored since Feb. 7 Adam Clendening Jersey Womens , versus the Winnipeg Jets.“It’s definitely a relief,” said Drouin, who did not have a point in his previous nine games. “It’s something you want. But it’s not something I thought about. You guys make stories more than me and you think about it more than me. I don’t listen to any of that noise. For me, it’s just to play hockey.”The win came at the right time for the Canadiens, who are battling for a postseason berth.Montreal (39-28-7) started the night one point back of Columbus in the conference. The Blue Jackets played the Edmonton Oilers later Thursday. The Canadiens are two points behind the Carolina Hurricanes, who lost 6-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Canadiens have won two straight after dropping two in a row.“I think we needed that for our confidence,” Drouin said. “We kind of lost it over the past two weeks. Now we got our confidence back and we’re not scared to make mistakes. We’re playing to win. The last couple of games have been different.”After a back-and-forth first period, Joel Armia gave Montreal the lead with seven seconds left in the frame when he beat Thomas Greiss between the pads from the slot on the power play.Armia had never scored a power-play goal in 228 career games coming into Thursday’s contest. Montreal converted one of two power-play chances.“A big momentum swing any time there’s a goal at the end of the period,” Islanders forward Anders Lee said. “And then we had two power plays right before that. Those are momentum swings in their favor, the way they killed them. And then they put in the goal at the end of the period. But it’s a one-goal game at that point.”The Canadiens added to their lead early in the second period.Shea Weber scored his 13th goal of the season with a slap shot to make it 2-0 at 1:03.Jordan Eberle, who played despite dealing with an upper-body injury this week, had a chance to get the Islanders back in the game, but couldn’t solve Price. The Canadiens’ goalie stuck out his pad and made a nice toe save to keep New York off the board.“We had some chances and we didn’t bury them,” Islanders coach Barry Trotz said. “There’s a little bit of frustration but you need to wipe it away. Price made some timely saves. That’s what great goaltenders do.”Montreal made Eberle pay for missing that chance on the next shift. Drouin completed a tic-tac-toe pass play from Armia and Jesperi Kotkaniemi at the six-minute mark, snapping his 17-game run without a goal.“He was frustrated because he wasn’t scoring Devin Shore Jersey ,” coach Claude Julien said of Drouin. “If this allows him to get his swagger back, good for him because it’s the perfect time.”Jordan Weal added a fourth for Montreal at 8:19 when he tipped Jordie Benn’s shot past Greiss.Greiss gave up four goals on 22 shots. Robin Lehner stopped all 12 shots he faced in relief.“We’re playing as a pretty good group and we’re using our assets like we should be,” said Price, who has 44 career shutouts. “If we keep doing that, I’m pretty sure we’re going to be successful for the rest of the season. We’re a tough team to play against when we play like that.”NOTES: Armia’s power-play goal was the first of his career. … The Islanders managed seven shots in the third period.UP NEXTIslanders: At Philadelphia on Saturday.Canadiens: Host the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. NEW YORK (AP) — Thomas Greiss made some big saves, rookie Devon Toews got a power-play goal right after Minnesota tied the score, and Anders Lee dived to block a shot with his head late in the game. The New York Islanders used a strong team effort to get another win.Toews scored the tiebreaking goal early in the second period, Greiss stopped 26 shots and the Islanders beat the Wild 2-1 on Sunday.“That’s a sign of our team, how we battle, how hard we work,” Greiss said. “Everybody is just doing their job and doing everything they can.”Anthony Beauvillier also scored for Metropolitan Division-leading New York, which won for the fourth time in five games and ninth in 12 (9-1-2) to increase its lead to five points over second-place Washington. The Islanders, who beat Colorado 4-3 in overtime Saturday, improved to 15-2-1 in back-to-back games, including 9-0-0 on the back end.“You have to have a winning commitment Womens Esa Lindell Jersey ,” New York coach Barry Trotz said. “The whole group has been all-in all year, and we’ve been able to put a few wins together.”Mikael Granlund scored for the Wild, who lost for the fifth time in six games (1-3-2). Devan Dubnyk, starting for the second straight game after facing just 18 shots in a 4-2 win at New Jersey on Saturday, had 32 saves.Minnesota pressed for the tying goal in the third, outshooting New York 12-9 in the period after totaling just 15 shots over the first 40 minutes. Greiss had four saves in close on one Wild power play in the middle of the period, stopping a tip by Eric Staal, a shot by Jason Zucker and two more tries by Staal. With just over a minute left, Lee used his helmet to block a shot by Ryan Suter as the Wild were scrambling to help preserve the win.“Huge commitment at the end,” Trotz said. “Guys are blocking shots with their legs, their ankles, their head. You name it, they’re getting in the way.”Greiss improved to 4-0-1 in his last five games, giving up just three goals on 157 shots in the stretch. His lone loss was 1-0 in a shootout against Tampa Bay at the Nassau Coliseum on Feb. 1.“Just working on my game all season long,” Greiss said. “Guys in front of me are playing well Jamie Benn Jersey , everybody is doing their job and it shows out there.”The Islanders finished 1 for 6 on the power play, and the Wild were 1 for 3.“We never want to end up killing that many penalties,” Dubnyk said. “It’s tough to keep them out and that’s a lot of time you’re not able to be at the other end trying to score.”Granlund tied the score 1-1 with a power-play goal 38 seconds into the second period. A rebound of Staal’s shot came out to Zucker on the right side and as Greiss came out to cut off his angle, Zucker sent the puck across to the left where Granlund put it into the open net for his 13th.However, Anthony Bitetto was whistled for holding a minute later to put the Islanders on the power play, and Toews regained their lead at 2:01 with a one-timer from the left slot off a pass from Ryan Pulock.“We get the momentum and all of a sudden it’s turned right around,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. “When you take six (penalties) that puts a lot of strain on certain individuals that are playing. It makes it difficult.”Beauvillier gave New York a 1-0 lead with just under six minutes left in the opening period with his 13th of the season and first in 12 games.Valtteri Filppula, who set up Beauvillier’s score, had a chance to double the lead on a 3-on-2 break with a little more than a minute left in the first, but his attempt in front hit Dubnyk and then was covered up the goalie, who fell back on the ice and appeared unaware it was under him.NOTES: Minnesota has allowed six power-play goals in the last five games, going 12 for 18 on the penalty kill in that stretch. … The Wild lost for just the second time in nine games starting before 3 p.m. this season. … The teams conclude the season series March 17 at Minnesota. The Wild swept both meetings last season. … The Islanders were without F Cal Clutterbuck for the second straight game after he sustained a lower-body injury Thursday night at New Jersey. … Beauvillier now has two goals and four points in five games against Minnesota. … Pulock, who scored twice including the OT winner against Colorado on Saturday, now has five assists and seven points in his last five games.UP NEXTWild: Host Philadelphia on Tuesday night to open a four-game homestand.Islanders: At Buffalo on Tuesday night to open a stretch of five of six on the road.
